As this “wonderful” year comes to an end, I decided it was the perfect time to start a new, annual series reflecting upon and celebrating the world of gaming for that year. Therefore, I hereby announce the first annual 16-Bit Awards!
Sure, there may not be a big event or ceremony, but this is still a way to give some recognition back to the hard work that goes into the gaming industry. This year, there are a total of 11 categories, ranging from peripherals to retro gaming personalities, all of which deserve some gratitude for what they bring to the world of gaming, both modern and retro. More categories will likely be added in the years to come, I may also add in a Voter’s Choice next year, so that all of you amazing people reading 16-Bit Dad can have your say as to who wins an award as well.
Basically, I intend to grow these awards and build upon them constantly. Won’t that be something amazing?
However, for now, let’s all congratulate the winners of my brand new gaming awards!
AAA Game of the Year
Horizon: Zero Dawn
Indie Game of the Year
Most Anticipated AAA Game
Final Fantasy VII: Remake

Fell Seal: Arbiter’s Mark

As mentioned earlier, in the coming years there will likely be more categories added. For example, I may add categories for each genre of gaming, and even for third party consoles and add-ons. However, for now, those were the winners of the first ever 16-Bit Awards for gaming! Well done to everyone, and thank you for helping to make the world of gaming as awesome as it is!
I, for one, am really looking forward to seeing what 2018 holds for each and every gaming fan out there. With some epic new releases for AAA titles on the horizon, as well as the endless possibilities than indie games give us, you know that there’s going to be something truly special around the corner!
