It’s that of the year once again! E3 is just around the corner and every gaming blogger and journalist is writing up their predictions for what games and gear is going to be announced. Well, in an effort to only slightly jump on the bandwagon, I’m going to do something every so slightly different…
Today, we’re going to look at six dream announcements of mine for any E3, but especially for E3 2019! So, let’s get started!
6. Dino Crisis Remake
We’re going to start with the one that is the most likely to actually happen. After all, Capcom’s Resident Evil 2 Remake has been a runaway success and they have said that they want to bring back other forgotten or old titles. Whilst Resident Evil 3: Nemesis getting the remake treatment is pretty much certain, there is just something about Dino Crisis making a comeback that is extremely exciting for me.
Especially with the same level of treatment, love and care that went into the Resident Evil 2 Remake. Can you imagine playing through Dino Crisis again with the gameplay style of the Resident Evil 2 Remake? It would be amazing!
5. A Sleeping Dogs 2 Trailer
Back on the PS2, when Grand Theft Auto was pushing the idea of open-world gaming, we got a whole host of “GTA clones”. One of those was the True Crime series, which featured gunplay and martial arts as well. I loved the games, but the series just kind of disappeared. That is until we got the spiritual sequel called Sleeping Dogs. Since then, Sleeping Dogs has remained my favourite Grand Theft Auto game… I just adore it completely. The story was immersive, the gameplay outstanding and the combat was wonderful.
However, we haven’t had a sequel yet. We’ve had an HD remaster, but that’s it. So I’m really hoping that we get a trailer for a new Sleeping Dogs at some point.
4. Rule of Rose Gets A Remaster
If you’re a fan of horror games, then you’ll be always be looking for a game that can really scare you… Or at least, one that can creep you out. Rule of Rose is exactly that! It came out on the PS2, before being quickly banned in the UK because of how creepy the content is and what happens in the game. However, if you have been able to play it, you’ll know that it is a wonderfully terrifying game.
How much people are able to stand in a game has come a long way since then, with the likes of Outlast’s DLC really pushing the limits. With that in mind, it could be the perfect time to remaster Rule of Rose, and bring it out for everyone to see this time!
3. Fatal Frame Gets A New Sequel with an International Release
Sticking with the horror genre, Fatal Frame is one of the best horror game franchises of all time. It turned the idea of ghosts into something that will really scare you. Each game has been amazing in its own right, but we didn’t get them all outside of Japan. Due to the sheer focus on action that covered the Survival Horror genre during the Resident Evil 5 and 6 era, the developers of Fatal Frame decided it wasn’t financially viable to sell the series outside of Japan.
However, with Resident Evil 7 and the recent Resident Evil 2 Remake, there has been a shift back to actual horror for the genre. Therefore, it is also time for Fatal Frame to make a comeback, and for that to include an international release.
2. Shin Megami Tensei Coming To PlayStation 4
We’ve heard about the new Shin Megami Tensei game that is coming to the Nintendo Switch. It is going to be the next entry in the main line of games, and I am so happy that it is coming! However, as Shin Megami Tensei 3, Digital Devil Saga and Devil Summoner were all last released on the PlayStation 2, it would also be nice for the next entry in the franchise to be released for the PlayStation 4 as well.
This is probably a long shot too, since we haven’t even heard anything about the game since the original announcement trailer. But I can hope, right?
1. A New Shadow Hearts Game
The final entry on this list of dream announcements for E3 2019 is just that; an actual dream. Shadow Hearts is still, to this day, one of the most enjoyable RPG series I have ever played. The series is dark, comedic, unique and experimental, which is a brilliant mix! However, we haven’t had a new Shadow Hearts game since From The New World on the PS2. That’s a real shame, which I am always hoping will change in the future.
I mean, we got a sequel to Shenmue years later. Why can’t we get one for Shadow Hearts as well? I know this won’t happen at E3 2019, but I really hope it does at some point!
And That’s All Folks
Those were 6 of my dream E3 announcements. If any of those actually came true at E3 2019, I think I would probably have the same reaction that people had when the Final Fantasy VII remake was announced.
