You’d be surprised how many people tell me that raising a child is easy… How they go to work, go out for dinner 2 or 3 times a week, go the cinema every couple of weeks, and basically haven’t had to change their lifestyle very much at all. And you know, they’re really lucky! Why?

Because they have parents or other family members living nearby who can help to shoulder some of the time needed to watch over their child. For example, if they want to go on a “date night” then they can drop their child off at their parents’ house, knowing that their child will be cared for and well looked after.

But then, there are those of us who don’t have this luxury… For example, for us, both my Mum and my wife’s parents live quite far away from us (my wife’s parents live in another country). So, we don’t have that family support network… And obviously, that makes like a lot more difficult.

And we know we’re not alone in this situation… Not by a long shot. That’s why I’ve been thinking, and I plan to have more of a focus for my Parenting posts going forward. I’ll be writing about how life is like without a family support network; how to manage your free time, how to allow for both parents to have jobs, how to ensure that your child gets the best you can give…

This is something that we go through every day, so I think I can really offer some good advice and insights into raising a child like this… And hopefully it will be able to help others who are in or going into a similar situation be prepared!

So yeah… Just a really quick, short post to let you all know what I am planning. Thanks for reading this, and make sure to check out the new posts once they are live!
