One thing I love about being a father is seeing how my daughter’s personality develops and grows. It is amazing to see how she becomes her own person, even at the tender age of 2! I mean, she’s already got specific songs that, when she hears them, she smiles and jumps around.

She also has some songs that she absolutely hates, and when they come on she moans and cries. I didn’t expect her to have chosen songs already… But that just goes to show how much her personality has already developed! So, with that in mind, let’s get on with this list post; here are my 2 year old daughter’s favourite songs!

The My Little Pony Cafeteria Song

We’ll start with one of the more expected songs; the cafeteria song from My Little Pony Equestria Girls is one of the few “childrens” songs that my daughter loves. If she’s in a bad mood, then one of the best ways to cheer her up is to play thing song on YouTube.

It’s your typical pop song, with happy-go-lucky lyrics and an upbeat backing track, so it is great to get yourself in a good mood. And to be honest, it’s actually better than most of the pop songs that are played on the radio these days.

With that one out of the way, now it’s time to get into the more surprising songs that my daughter loves. Now, again, she’s only 2 years old… So some of these might really surprise you.,

All I Want – A Day To Remember

When I saw how much my daughter loved this song, I was so happy! You see, if you haven’t guessed from the name of this blog, I’m a huge punk rock fan. So, when I saw my daughter dancing to All I Want by A Day To Remember, it gave me such a huge smile of on my face!

She loves it so much that, even at the age of 6 months, if I sang the lyrics to her (without the song playing) she would smile and dance a little. At 6 months old, she could recognise the lyrics of this song… I couldn’t believe it.

And still, to this day, when this song comes, she stops whatever she is doing and just enjoys the song until it is finished. And sometimes, she wants to listen to it over and over again.

Throne – Bring Me The Horizon

One thing I never expected to see what my daughter, still a toddler, headbanging. Yet, I have seen it, specifically when she listens to Throne by Bring Me The Horizon. As soon as the music starts, her ears perk up and her attention is captured… Then, once the chorus starts, she begins dancing… Then when Oliver Sykes erupts with the word “throne”, her head starts moving back and forth.

I’m sure she gets that from me, as headbanging is definitely a common thing for me to do. But the very first time she did it, I couldn’t help but crack up. It was one of the cutest things I have ever seen! From there, she started headbanging to other rock songs, but this was the one that started it, and the one that she does it to the most.

Rise Against – Satelitte

We’re going back to punk rock now. Rise Against are one of my all time favourite bands, so it is almost certain that is why she ended up liking them. Even when she was in the womb, we would have these guys playing… So I guess she didn’t really have much choice but to like them…

The song is really upbeat, and is actually one of my favourite songs by them. When it is on, she laughs and starts jumping around, almost in time to the beat. She’s not quite there yet, but she is pretty close… Is it me, or do girls and women just tend to hold a beat better then guys?

And That’s All Folks

There are loads of songs that my daughter enjoys, from Meatloaf to a bit of J-POP like Nami Tamaki, but those four are by far her favourite. Even at the age of 2, she has developed a bit of a punk rocker music taste, which really fits her personality as well.. She absolutely hates following rules, and prefers to wear a lot of dark pink or black clothes…

It really is amazing how quickly a child’s personality evolves and develops… Have your children got any surprising habits or tastes? Let me know in the comments below!
