So, you may have figured it out already, but I’m a huge fan of Final Fantasy. The series has been a major part of my gaming history since I was a young kid and experienced a small part of Final Fantasy 6 (you can read more about my history with games here).

I’ve played the large majority of the series over the years, but I certainly haven’t played all of them. So, if you’ve been following me on Twitch, you’ll know that I have decided to take on a very huge quest;

We will be playing through the entire Final Fantasy series, including spin-offs, on stream!

I’m sure the Final Fantasy fans out there can imagine how big of a quest and mission that is. But for those of you who don’t know, let’s take a look at what this Final Fantasy streamer quest involves.

The Main Final Fantasy Games

At the time of writing, there are currently 15 main Final Fantasy games, excluding direct sequels, as well as the Final Fantasy VII Remake on the horizon. So, that’s really 16 main games. Then, add the direct sequels and prequels for Final Fantasy VII, X & XIII and you can increase that number by 5 more.

Therefore, that’s 22 games that average around 60 hours per game, totalling a rough estimate of 1,320 hours of gameplay! And that’s without the spin-off games… Although, I won’t be playing the MMORPGs in the series, because that would be endless, so there’s really only 20 main games for the quest.

Adding In The Spin-Offs

So, on top of the 19 main games and direct sequels, we will also be playing through the spin-off Final Fantasy games on stream as well. This involves all of the following games;

  • Final Fantasy Type-0
  • Final Fantasy Tactics
  • Final Fantasy Tactics Advance
  • Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift
  • A King’s Tale: Final Fantasy XV
  • Final Fantasy Adventure
  • Final Fantasy Mystic Quest
  • Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles series
  • Final Fantasy: The 4 Heroes of Light
  • Theatrhythm Final Fantasy series
  • Final Fantasy Explorers
  • World of Final Fantasy

Those of you who are big fans of the franchise might notice that I’m not including Mobile games or the Chocobo series in that list. That’s because of two reasons;

  • Firstly, the Mobile games are very hit and miss in terms of enjoyment to play, so may very well be dull to watch (especially the likes of All The Bravest). On top of this, some of the Mobile games in the series just aren’t available anymore.
  • The Chocobo series is something I will possibly attempt to do once I’ve finished this little quest, but I’m undecided at the moment. Whilst it is related to Final Fantasy, it’s also not part of the actual series.

Okay, the second reason is a pretty loose and poor one, but it’s my quest, so that’s the rules that I’ve put in place.

Additional Final Fantasy Content

Well, with that all out of the way, I’m sure you can now see just how much content my Final Fantasy streams will create. But the streams won’t just be all I work on. Instead, the Final Fantasy streams will mean that I can create highlight videos of my experiences playing through the series. I’ll also be able to document how I feel about each game as we go.

So, you can expect a lot more Final Fantasy content over the next few years (it will literally take years to complete this quest). I’m looking forward to really diving into the series and experiencing everything it has to offer.

And That’s All Folks

This Final Fantasy series stream quest is going to be one huge undertaking. But at the same time, it’s going to be a lot of fun. If you want to come along on the journey, why not follow me on Twitch so you can join in?
