In Review – Venom Switch Power Pack and Stand

So a few days ago, we took a look at the Quad Charging Station from Venom Gaming (you can read that here). Today, we’re going to look at another accessory from the UK-based manufacturer; their Power Pack with a built-in stand.

After all, I’ve been pretty vocal about the fact that I’ve fallen in love with the Nintendo Switch. So naturally, I want to get some top quality accessories for this awesome console.

On top of this, because I tend to play it out of the dock, having a way to keep it charged for longer without the need for cables is a must. That’s why I was actually really excited to try out the Venom Gaming Power Pack and Stand. So let’s take a look at it, shall we?

Starting with the usability of the Power Pack and Stand, the first thing to note is that the top of it can be locked and unlocked. When unlocked, it rises up to allow you to place the Switch into the Power Pack with easy. You don’t need to worry about having to push too hard on the console as it just slips in effortlessly.

Then, when locked in place, the Power Pack holds the Switch perfectly. The measurements of the Power Pack have been calculated just right, meaning that the Switch sits snuggly without the risk of damage to any part of it.

The Power Pack also comes with cutouts where each button on the top of the Switch is, meaning that you still have full access to the console’s interface. Between that and the fact that the pack is actually rather light, means that the Switch retains its portable nature.

All of this means that the Power Pack definitely passes the Usability test. The fact that it isn’t particularly large and doesn’t increase the overall size of the Switch that much also helps massively!

Oh, and if that wasn’t enough, there’s even an extra USB port on the side of the pack which can be used to charge other devices as well.

When it comes to Effectiveness of a Power Pack and Stand, it really does come down to how well it manages to charge the Nintendo Switch, and how it can hold the Switch up. That’s really all there is to look at, isn’t it?

With that in mind, I let my Switch get really low on power whilst playing The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. From there, I placed the Nintendo Switch into the Power Pack in order to test it out and keep playing. It let me continue to play for a good couple of hours more before I turned the console off because I got tired. It still had battery power left though, so that’s a really good sign!

In regards to the stand, the pack features two stand legs that fold out from the back, one on each side. This means that it is very sturdy, even when using the touch screen aspects of the Switch.

There isn’t really much to say about the stand, to be honest. It holds the console well, without it falling over, so that’s a success in my opinion!

Finally, we need to talk about the cost of the Venom Power Pack and Stand. It retails for about £29.99 in places like Argos, which is actually a pretty good price for what you get.

Considering most Nintendo Switch accessories can be pretty pricey compared to similar products for other consoles, it is nice to see that the Power Pack is at a rather fair price. After all, the charging aspect is really good and the stand works as it should do. I really couldn’t fault it.

And That’s All Folks

All in all, if you play the Nintendo Switch outside of the dock, the Venom Power Pack would be a great addition to your console. It will mean you can play for longer periods of time whilst also actually offering some protection to the back of the Switch.

The stand always means you can have the Switch sitting in a comfortable position whilst playing.
