It’s around that time again, where the weather starts to change and us Brits just keep complaining about it. Spring is coming, and whilst that doesn’t sound as good in a Sean Bean style voice, it’s still the case, and that means that road conditions will change too.

This has gotten me thinking, since a few weeks ago our little family car, that has done so well for us, was written off in an accident where the other person was at fault. Since then, we’ve now upgraded somewhat, with the family wagon now being a Nissan Juke. As the weather changes and Spring rolls in, I want to ensure that I’ve been as careful and safe as possible with the new car, for my family’s sake. So, it’s about time to start getting my car’s tyres ready for the changes, don’t you think?

A Set Of Car Tyres That Will Last

One of the most important aspects of a set of tyres, in my opinion, is the durability. Since I currently drive around 500 miles each week, it is imperative that the tyres on my car are going to last and not just give up the ghost as I’m driving along.

On top of that, a lot of the roads that I travel along are country roads, full of uneven surfaces and potholes created by the various trucks and tractors that frequent those roads. Therefore, having a set of tyres that can deal with those roads is a must! In fact, considering how we drive to the likes of Leeds, Doncaster, Leicester and Northampton on a semi-regular basis, you can imagine how much wear and tear our tyres experience.

The last thing we want is to be out on a family trip to somewhere like Northampton and have the tyres burst. Although, I’d rather have that happen in a city like Northampton, rather than the middle of the countryside. However, I’d still rather not have it happen at all. The reason being, if you ever are having tyre issues in a city, at least there are options… Have trouble finding long lasting, robust tyres in Northampton area? Visit your nearest branch of Calmac Tyres or book your tyres online with them for free.

On the other hand, if you’re in a small countryside village, or on a small road between them, it can be much more difficult to source a new set of wheels to get you home!

The Right Tyres For The Season

The next thing you really need to think about is making sure you’re not still using Winter Tyres during the Spring and Summer. In order to make sure your car is as safe as possible for your family, you always want to ensure that you’ve got the right tyres for the season. It just makes sense, doesn’t it?

At the moment, the Nissan Juke has Winter Tyres on it, so that’s another reason why I need to get them changed. It had been sitting at the dealership for a while, so the tyres hadn’t been swapped either, so they’re probably going to wear down soon enough. When you put those two things together, it’s not a great recipe! So I’ll be putting some Spring/Summer tyres on the Juke very soon.

And That’s All Folks

It’s a really good idea to make sure that you have the right tyres on your car, to help make sure that every family trip is as safe as possible. Because of that, I’ll be switching out the tyres on our new family car in the next few days.

How often do you guys switch out your tyres for a new set? Let me know in the comments below!
