If you’re wondering where to go with kids, Singapore should be high on your list. As an avid gamer, I have a special affinity for the technology that comes from our friends over in Asia.
If you feel the same way, then I would recommend an overseas trip full of garden spectaculars, city walks, harbor views, and more. Family activities in Singapore abound, and I’ve enjoyed doing the legwork for you. Here are five of many things to do with kids in a land beautifully mixed with history and culture.
1. Gardens by the Bay
Gardens by the Bay comes highly reviewed by nearly every Singapore traveler. It encompasses over 240 acres of land, easily filling an entire afternoon with fun. For this trip, make sure everyone has their walking shoes on.
Once there, keep your eyes open for the Cloud Forest. It’s the world’s largest indoor waterfall, towering at 114 feet. The kiddos will love being wrapped in the cool mists that’ll bloom all around them.
The other main attraction is the Flower Dome. It’s an impressive glass greenhouse, featuring plant varieties from nearly every environment in the world. This is a huge teaching moment for anyone in the family who may have a green thumb.
2. Singapore Night Safari
Fancy a feast with a lion under the Singapore night sky? If your kids are anything like my daughter, I know they’ll love this adventure. Here, you’ll come across thousands of animals, including wildebeests, gazelles, rhinos, sloth bears, and more.
There’s something special about being out and about in the dead of night and interacting with nature’s fiercest animals. Your kids will love the thrill of it all and I know it’ll stick in their memory banks for a lifetime.
3. S.E.A. Aquarium
Located on Sentosa Island, the S.E.A. Aquarium is one of the largest in the world. It’s also very clean and smartly laid out. Everything from colorful coral to snapping sharks awaits your family.
You can pick up your attraction tickets online. It’s about $30 per adult and $22 per child. That’s a one-day pass that will transport everyone to a slew of underwater wonders.
4. The ArtScience Museum
Should you happen to come upon a rainy day, I’d definitely recommend the ArtScience Museum. It’s shaped like an orchid and neatly nestled into the waterfront of Marina Bay.
Hold everyone’s hand because you’re going to walk up floating staircases, enter into multimedia rooms mimicking da Vinci’s flying machine, and interact with artifacts including tools used by Van Gogh and trinkets from the Titanic.
5. The Singapore Flyer
After the rain clears and your family has tired out from exploring the ArtScience Museum, head on over to the Singapore Flyer. Take a 30-minute ride on a 541-foot lookout that dangles over Marina Bay in all her glory.
After enjoying the ride, you can grab a delicious snack in one of the many eateries located at the base of the wheel. Then, pick up a new travel keepsake in one of the fine jewelry shops.
