The retro gaming world has been booming in recent years. People are restoring consoles in search of that fun retro gameplay we all miss. However, game developers quickly caught this trend and started remaking one of their best-selling games from the past.

The fun gameplay and split-screen co-op is something that is disappearing in modern games, and people want the good old days back. Game developers face trouble with the recreation of their original games just because they try to develop them as close as possible to the originals.

This year we’ve seen some incredible remakes and there are many more to come. Let’s see what caught people’s attention.

Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled

This is one of the all-time classic racing games that people wanted for so long. This game was released on June 21 for PS4, Xbox One, and Switch and had very successful release. There are different opinions about this game, some people say that it is a Mario Kart clone, and others will argue that it surpasses Mario Kart in the long run.

Whatever the case, the game is extremely fun to play and they included everything from the original, so it brings back memories.

MediEvil Remake

Just because it has been more than 10 years from the last MediEvil game release, people thought that this game was already in the past. Fans were very surprised when Sony published details about the MediEvil game remake. At first, the plan was to remaster, but the project took turn for the best as they decided to completely remake this classic game.

It is scheduled for release on 25 October for PS4, and it is going to be extremely fun. For those ones who are not familiar with this game, it is about an undead knight named Sir Daniel Fortesque as he tries to restore peace to the Kingdom.

Team Sonic Racing: Start Your Engines

Yes, in one year we’ve seen CTR and TSR and it has been amazing. Team Sonic Racing is a whole new game with all-new visuals, effects, and game modes. This game was released on May 21 and it is truly amazing. You cannot pick the winner between the new Crash Team Racing and Team Sonic Racing, just because both have done incredible job by catching the original sense of gameplay.

Final Fantasy 7

This game was rumored for remake a long time ago, but people started to think that this project was already in the trash. However, Square Enix just recently confirmed that the title is still in development and we might see it release in March 2020. This remake will be retelling the original game story but with improved visuals and gameplay. We hope that it would be amazing.

Yoshi’s Crafted World

Similar to the “Yoshi’s Island” that was released for Super Nintendo, Yoshi is coming back to the Switch console. It is an interesting game that you can throw eggs at enemies, jump high or consume or enemies and spit them out in eggs. These are the classic Yoshi moves and they are brought back to life with a new spin on their 2D game design and newly created worlds.

Link’s Awakening Remake

The famous Game Boy title from back in 1993 is brought back to life with the latest Link’s awakening remake for Switch. This game follows Link stranded on Koholint Island after shipwreck accident and he is on a quest to collect eight magical instruments that are scattered across the island.

This game is unique just because it is one in few games that does not include Princess Zelda.  It was released on 20th September and it is a truly fun experience.

These are some of the classic game remakes that are extremely fun to play. People are demanding classic game releases more and more, just because it brings nostalgia and classic gameplay in today’s modern world.

If nowadays gaming companies are more interested in microtransactions and turning online games into betting systems, it is nice to go back to the roots where the gameplay was all that mattered.
