And so, season 7 of Game of Thrones has come to an end. Don’t worry, there won’t be any spoilers in this post. But one thing I can say is that, like many of you, I’ll be going through Game of Thrones withdrawal. Therefore, it is time to find a way to deal with the lack of Game of Thrones until Season 8 finally comes around.

So, today, we’ll be looking at 3 TV shows that can help you get through the next however many months it is until season 8 gets started. Here are three shows to combat the Game of Thrones withdrawal symptoms.

The Walking Dead

We might as well start with the most obvious; The Walking Dead season 8 will be starting very soon, and the trailer looks absolutely amazing. If you’ve been watching it, you’ll know what to expect about the next season and I’m sure you are just as excited as I am. If you haven’t been watching it, then I highly recommend starting now… You’ve got seven seasons ahead of you already, plus the eighth very soon. That alone will probably keep you busy until Game of Thrones returns to our screens.

Whilst not quite as epic as Game of Thrones, it is a masterpiece of TV and well worth the watch. Just a bit of pre-warning, however… Season 2 is very, very slow. If you can make it through that, you’re in for an amazing ride! And for those of you thinking “I don’t like zombies”, they actually play a really minimal part in the show. The zombies are just part of the setting, they are not the enemies of the show.

Vikings

For those of you who want something a bit closer to Game of Thrones, in the sense that it is a medieval setting, then I would implore you to check out Vikings. Telling the tale of Ragnar Lothbrok, a legendary character in Norse history, as well as his sons. It is an aggressive and violent TV show that, like Game of Thrones, isn’t afraid to kill off main characters.

The battles are epic, especially some of the sieges, and the storyline is full of twists and turns. This is an amazing show that will easily keep your Game of Thrones withdrawal symptoms at bay. It is available on Amazon Prime Video, and is well worth the watch!

Stranger Things

For those of you who enjoy classic horror movies (without the need for senseless gore), then Stranger Things is definitely the show for you. In fact, if you’ve ever been a fan of the Silent Hill games or movies, then you’re going to love Stranger Things. The first season is available on Netflix right now, with the second season starting on Halloween.

A creepy tale with some absolutely amazing characters, Stranger Things will have you on edge the entire time. You won’t be able to stop watching, with each episode pushing you on to the next. This is definitely one of the best TV shows in recent history. And with the second season coming out, I cannot wait to see what else is going to happen in this story!

Marvel’s The Defenders

The final show on our list is Marvel’s The Defenders, the latest series released on Netflix. I have yet to watch it yet but will be picking it up now that Game of Thrones has finished. It follows the joint efforts of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist as they team up to protect New York City against the Hand.

As I am sure you will agree, the trailer looks absolutely insane! And if Daredevil is anything to go by, the cinematography is going to be amazing. The series is available now on Netflix, so I would definitely check it out if I were you!

And That’s All Folks

There are, of course, hundreds of other shows out there, but these 4 are right up there at the top of my To Watch list. If you’re already suffering from the lack of Game of Thrones for the next year or so, then I would definitely recommend trying some of these.

Have you watched any of these? Are there any other shows that you would recommend? Let me know in the comments below!
